Mail Art and Pin

I haven’t been able to work on much of anything, partly due to having chores to do like mowing, weeding, laundry, etc.

I came home yesterday and found this waiting for me.

It is from Ati in Norway. We did a one on one swap. Doesn’t it just scream summer.

When I was looking for something else I came across this in the drawer and realized I never posted a picture of it. I made this last year right before Christmas.

TAST - weeks 15 and 16

I am slowly catching up with my attempts at the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. This is week 19; I got stuck back at week 15. I had the darnedest time figuring out the oyster stitch, but with the help of Doreen I finally got it figured out.

Week 15—Oyster Stitch

I used DMC floss and I think that is why it was hard to get a decent looking stitch, at least for me anyway. The background for this ATC is wool roving needle punched onto a piece of peltex using my Janome Xpression.

Week 16—Palestrina Stitch

I had no idea what to do with this stitch so I just did this. I found it hard to keep this stitch even since I wasn’t using a woven background. The background is wool roving needle punched onto two layers of used dryer sheets.

First off, I want to take the time and publicly thank all of you who visit my blog. Even if you don’t leave a comment, I want you to know I appreciate each and every one of you for your time and patronage. I try to email everyone who comments, but sometimes I just don’t have the time and some of you don’t have emails. Please don’t think I don’t care, I do.

Now to get on with business. I have been tagged by Gunnel for another one of these darn things.

You start with 7 random facts/habits about yourself. People who are tagged have to write their 7 things on their blog. Then choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment to tell them they have been tagged and to read your blog. (These are the rules).

1. I hate these things, but will do them when tagged.

2. I write and eat with my left hand, but paint, stitch and do most other
things with my right hand.

3. I love most music, but for some reason very seldom listen to it.

4. I love dogs, don’t care too much for cats but can tolerate them if need be. Sorry cat Gunnel/cat lovers.

5. I like my alone time, but sometimes hate being alone.

I know that’s only five, but I can’t think of anything else at the moment. I am also not going to tag anybody specific, partly because I don’t know who has and hasn’t already been tagged. If you haven’t been tagged and read this and want to join in, then consider yourself tagged and go for it.

Altered Book_work in progress

I've been working on a mixed media textile piece on and off for the past few weeks, but I can’t show it yet, so I thought I would share with you the pages I have so far in an altered book I started 2 or 3 years ago. I didn’t really have a theme for the book, but I kind of went with women.

click on images for larger pictures.

Here are pages 1 and 2:

These ladies are transparencies. The lady in the frame on page 2 is really on page 4. I cut an opening in page 2 and 3 and glued a piece of clear acetate between the pages before adding the frame on both pages. When you turn the page from 2 to 3 then the girl on page 1 is in the frame.

Pages 3 and 4:

Pages 5 and 6:

This is the tag that is in the pocket on page 6:

Pages 7 and 8:

I intend to eventually add some fibers to the tags.

This is what is in the library pocket:

Years ago I had a Kodak Disc camera, this is one of the old discs. I’ve seen a lot of altered art, but I have never seen anyone use one of these old discs in their art. Have any of you seen/used one?

Pages/tags 9 and 10:

Actually I guess these aren’t exactly pages. As you can see I cut most of the 3 pages off and then attached one tag each to a strip.

Pages/tags 11 and 12:

Pages/tags 13 and 14:

This is a copy of an old postcard I will use at some point.

I have not done anything with the outside cover yet and I have a number of pages left to work with still. I really need to work on this again.

Is anyone, besides me, having weird things happening from time to time with Bloglines? I am on bloglines just about everyday checking for new posts and I have had a persons blog show a ridiculous number of new postings ( anywhere from 10 to 20 or more) only to discover they are all old postings. If I hadn't clicked on the blog title instead of the post header I would never see the correct post for that day.

As I said before this has happened a number of times including just now. Just wondering.
